The best way of storing onions is using the traditional string method, and after years and years of practise, Clive is greenhouse bound stringing up the several crate-loads of our impressive looking onions. To ensure the onions store well they first of all need to be dried out somewhere warm and ventilated (this may take a number of weeks). During the drying out process, we would advise you to keep a close eye out for any rotting, if found remove away from any other onions to avoid contamination. When the onions are dry and ready trim down the leaves and roots. Take a 1m (ish!) length of string and double it. Make a loop at the base and feed the neck of the first onion into it. Hang the string up at this point and then continue with the rest of the onions.
Clive has also produced some beautiful looking crates ready for our harvest display coming up shortly. Check the website for more details and events during the harvest period.
